Visiting Hours:  The Hospital’s main entrance is open between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. After 4 p.m., please use the Emergency Department entrance.

If you have recently experienced an acute respiratory illness, please refrain from visiting patients in our Medical-Surgical or Birth Center. An acute respiratory illness is defined as a recent onset of at least two of these symptoms:

  • Nasal congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Cough with or without a fever

Visitor badges required

For the security of our patients and staff, all visitors to Northfield Hospital must check in, get a visitor badge, and wear it all the time you’re in the hospital.

Please stop at a Registration Desk to sign in and get your visitor badge:

  • Hospital Main Entrance
  • Emergency Department
  • Wound Healing Center
  • Clinic registration desk (for Imaging Department appointments)

Visitor badges include:

  • Visitor name
  • Department for visit
  • Date and time

All visitors are required to wear a visitor badge for the duration of their stay.
(Birth Center patients’ partners are given a wristband and don’t need a badge.)

A badge is valid for one day. Visitors must sign in and get a new badge each day.

Visitor registration and badging is a common security practice in hospitals and clinics.

All NH+C staff are committed to the safety of our patients, our guests, and each other. Any hospital staff who sees a person without a badge will direct the person to the nearest location where the visitor can register and get a badge.

Any visitor who will not register or wear a visitor badge will not be permitted to stay.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for our patients and staff.

More about visiting a patient at Northfield Hospital:

  • Visitors must stay in the patient room during their visit unless asked to step out of the room by a healthcare worker. This is to maintain the privacy of other patients.
  • Individuals who are ill are generally not allowed to visit.
  • Open visiting hours are from 8 am to 8 pm. After 8 pm, visiting is limited to one adult (over 18 years of age) to allow for our patients to rest.
  • Children (under 18) can have one parent who may stay overnight with the child. If an infant is being breastfed by a mother who is admitted to the hospital, the infant and one adult may remain with the patient, so the mother is able to continue breastfeeding during the hospitalization.
  • Patients with disabilities or dementia may have one designated support person stay overnight.
  • Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to stay overnight.
  • Patients having outpatient surgery or procedure, and Emergency Department patients, are limited to two visitors due to space constraints.
  • Any visitor who displays aggressive behavior will be required to leave the facility and will not be able to visit the patient during the remainder of the patient’s stay.

Quiet Hours:  Quiet hours are from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. to give patients a chance to rest and mend. We appreciate visitors honoring this effort by keeping noise and traffic in the corridors to a minimum.
