Brittany Cordes, APRN, CNM delivers babies at NH+C's Birth Center, and delivers pre-natal and post-partum care at NH+C's Women's Health Center.
First job? I worked at Subway when I turned 15 years old. It was amazing at the time because I got to work with my older sister, who I idolized. She had all the "cool" friends who didn't care if I tagged along.
Free time? I really enjoy reading, although I have not done as much since having children. I enjoy playing board games and cards with my husband and three children, going to movies or binge-watching shows. I really enjoy hanging out with family and friends. I also have six siblings, so there’s never a dull moment.
Best part of your work? Seeing someone light up when they feel they understand or learn something amazing about how their body works.
Best advice you ever got? “Never be too confident; those who are can be dangerous.” Be confident enough to ask questions, and know that you don’t have all the answers.
Why healthcare? My passion has always been in pregnancy and the midwifery model. I chose healthcare because I love to provide care, and I really strive to educate and promote our individual rights to make choices.
If not healthcare, what would you be doing? I honestly don’t see myself outside of healthcare, so in this case I hope I’m retired and traveling, or spending time with family.
