A Feb. 21 cyberattack on Change Healthcare (part of Optum) has affected billing and insurance processes at NH+C and across the U.S.
We expect it will take several weeks before these services are fully restored.
Patient care is not interrupted.
There will be a delay in getting your bills from NH+C.
Also expect delays with explanation of benefits (EOB) statements from your insurance carrier.
While this disruption is outside of our control, we are working hard to minimize its impact on you.
Managing your insurance
We recommend that you contact your insurance company before receiving medical services.
It’s best to call the customer service phone number listed on your insurance card to ask specific questions about what services and what percentage of charges your insurance plan will pay. The best time to do this is before you receive care.
Here are some questions you should ask:
- Is Northfield Hospital + Clinics in network?
- Does my plan includes coverage for the service/care I’m considering?
- What percentage of charges will my plan pay?
- How much of my deductible remains for me to pay this year?
You are expected to pay for all charges your insurance plan does not cover.

Paying your bill
For now, you can pay your NH+C bill in person at the hospital front desk, or any of our clinics. Please include the statement stub with your payment. You can also pay via your MyHealth Info portal.
To mail payment directly to NH+C, mail it to 2000 North Ave., Northfield MN 55057
Payments that are mailed in the return envelope included with the bill are mailed to Change Healthcare. Those payments can’t be posted as paid while Change Healthcare’s system is down.
We offer a variety of payment plan options, all at no interest. Contact our Patient Financial Services office for assistance at 507-646-1399.
Contacting patients
Beware of scams trying to take advantage of the disruption.
We may contact you via phone or U.S. mail if you owe a bill, or to verify insurance coverage.
We do NOT ask for financial information via text.
If you are concerned about any communication related to your NH+C bill or payments, call Patient Financial Services at 507-646-1399.
Data security at NH+C
