Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is aimed at helping people with specific medical conditions, develop a plan to stay as healthy as possible and to prevent or lessen diagnosis complications by changing their eating habits. It is an evidence-based approach that is approved by your primary care physician and implemented by a Registered Dietitian.

How Does MNT Work?
We will tailor a plan to improve your eating habits while considering your medical condition, lifestyle, and individual food preferences. At each session, you’ll be able to discuss your concerns and progress and get guidance along the way. The first session is typically one hour and subsequent visits range from 30 minutes to one hour as needed.
Does insurance cover MNT?
Many insurance plans will cover your visit. Check with your insurance provider to see if you’re covered. If insurance doesn’t cover MNT, we have other options. Please call for information.
Do I need a referral?
Yes. A referral from your health care provider with a medical diagnosis is needed to make an appointment. Referrals can be faxed to 507-646-6155.
Who Will I See?
You will see a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) who has specialized knowledge in nutrition and disease management.
