Patient Room Billing Information

Fees billed to you…
Your bill from Northfield Hospital includes charges for:

  • the use of the facility;
  • the services of the Hospital’s patient care staff;
  • the supplies that were used in your care.

Charges for professional services provided to you by a physician at Northfield Hospital will be sent separately from the Hospital’s bill. That bill may include charges for services of a pathologist, an anesthesiologist, a surgeon, a cardiologist, a radiologist, and/or other physicians.

Please note that any bill that is sent to you from a physician’s office is separate from the bill you receive from Northfield Hospital and you should contact that office directly with any questions you may have about that bill.

If you have insurance benefits…
It is important to know and understand your insurance benefits. Whenever possible, it is
recommended that you contact your insurance company prior to receiving medical services.

If you have been scheduled for services at Northfield Hospital, please take with you, at the
time of your appointment, your insurance identification card or membership card, and any
necessary insurance forms — all completed and signed.

If you have provided your current, full insurance information at the time of each visit to
Northfield Hospital, the Hospital, as a courtesy to you, will bill your insurance carrier directly
for the services you have received.

Please note that, even if your insurance carrier has already been billed for the services, you
will continue to receive a monthly statement from Northfield Hospital until payment has
been received from your insurance provider. After Northfield Hospital has received payment
from your insurance carrier, the Hospital will bill you for any remaining balance.

If Northfield Hospital is not contracted with your insurance carrier, the Hospital will bill
you for the entire balance regardless of insurance payment 90 days after the date on which
the claim was submitted to your insurance carrier.

If you have any questions about your bill from Northfield Hospital or if you need any further
assistance, please call a Patient Financial Services Representative, at 507-646-1399.

If you do not have insurance benefits…
If you don’t have insurance coverage, the entire unpaid balance of the account is due within
30 days after discharge from the Hospital, unless you arrange with a representative of the Patient Financial Services Department for a scheduled payment plan.

For your convenience, the Patient Financial Services Department accepts the following
credit cards: VISA; MasterCard; and Discover Card.
